Question

Recorded TV watched folder on network share showing as 1 min; meta data is not updating automatically

I have 3 Windows 7 MCE machines on my home network - all recording TV shows.  I have shared the recorded TV on each machine and each other machine can view those recordings.  The meta data for the TV shows does not update for all shows on the shared locations.  For example, the names show up as "Cougar Town_KABCDT_2009_11_04_23_28-00" and shows the time for the show as "1 min".

Thanks, but its not a connection/sharing problem.  The registry hack to shared recorded TV ended with Windows 7 as you can now do it right in the MCE interface.  This looks to be a bug in Win7.  Has anyone found a solution to this?  I was hoping to create yet another topic on this similar to this one on the greenbutton (http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/p/78724/400400.aspx).

I'm also trying to resolve this.  I tried posting in the TechNet forum but even after 350+ views I have not recieved a reply.  I even posted in the W7 Partner forum and was old they could not help.  I'm starting to consider calling in for paid support just to get someone at Microsoft to look at it.

Hello ssysol,

Thank you for posting on the Microsoft Answers Forum.

The best place to post questions on Windows Media Center and recorded TV only showing 1 minute would be thegreenbutton.com. It is a Microsoft sponsored website. If there is already a thread going with your particular issue, then stay on that thread.

If you want to file as a bug with Microsoft, I suggest you go to https://connect.microsoft.com/default.aspx and post.

If you have any other questions.

Sincerely,
Marilyn

Marilyn, thank you for the sugestions.  Could you suggest where in Microsoft Connect would be an appropriate forum for discussing Windows 7 MediaCenter?  Browsing the Connection Directory and even searching all connections for "MediaCenter" yields little in regards to real MediaCenter support.

Hello MrShannon,

I went to connect.microsoft.com and have registered. I agree that I do not know what is the appropriate connection directory to use for Windows Media Center bug.
I would then send an email to https://connect.microsoft.com/Main/help/emailsupport.aspx?Category=1 and ask them where to report a bug for this area.

Please reply back and let us  know what was stated from the Connect team so it may help others.
Sincerely,
Marilyn

I haven't gotten anywhere on this one.  I tried using some tricks to restart services and while that seemed to work at first, it has not been a reliable fix.

Have you tried to post at www.thegreenbutton.com/forums
They have experts there as the forum only deals with Windows Media Center issues.
