HRESULT: 0x80070002 during installation of iTunes 10
I currently have windows 7 64bit. I uninstalled the old version of Itunes to update to the newer one. When I tried to install the newer version I get the error
An error occurred during installation of assembly
'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32",version="8.050727.6195"
publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",
processorArchitecture='x86'. Please refer to Help and
Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070002
then itunes fails to install and rolls back the installation. I also get the eror mobile device failed to start.
I spent two hours online with support from Apple who where unable to help me get it installed. I have a new Ipad I would love to use but can't get it on my main computer.
I have been trying the differen t suggestions found in the forum the last was to run SFC comand to see if I had any corrupt files.I followed these instructions
Click Start
Open an elevated command prompt.
To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
SFC /scannow
and got the response Windows REsource Protection could not preform the requested operation
now what do I try. Do I have to reinstall windows seven to get the corropt / missing files back?
I would really like to be able to transfer my music to my ipad but this is very frustrating,
Thanks for any help, JoMoma

Thanks for the response but I have tried all three unsuccessfully. After working two hours linked with an Apple support technician they determined it was a windows problem since some of the basic windows funstions we where attempting to use to trouble shoot where not funcrtioning correctly.
SFC /scannow
and got the response Windows REsource Protection could not preform the requested operation
Error occured as well as when we tried to set up a second login windows would not allow us to name it or create it-we were going to try to install under a new clean administrator login.
