Error 1935 when installing Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 on Windows 7 Home Premium

I am trying to install Office 2010 Professional Plus on an HP Pavilion dv5-1002nr running Windows 7 Home Premium. I previously had the Office 2010 beta installed, and before that Office 2007. All instances of both the 2010 beta and 2007 have been removed through the control panel.

When I attempt the install it accepts the key and gets approx. 75% through the install before displaying the following error:

"Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 encountered an error during setup. Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {89EDD3A9-944B-3257-8484-D6EB6A00DDF5}. HRESULT: 0x80070002."

As per other forums/responses on this site I have tried the following:

  • Starting in safe mode, renaming the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution file folder to "SoftwareDistribution.old" and running fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\
  • Removing any instance of .Net Framework 4 via Remove Programs on the Control Panel
  • Running a Registry repair prior to installation
  • Attempting installation with my Anti-virus (Avast! v.5.0.545, virus definitions v. 101102-1) disabled
None of these has corrected the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
