Unable to create system repair disc__

i am using windows 7 home edition, where im trying to make a system repair disk on a cd-rw. I insert a blank cd, and then goto the menu to create a repair disk, where i select to create disk. the tool runs for about 5 minutes, and the progress bar gets about 3/4 of the way complete when an error pops up saying:

System repair disc could not be created
The device failed to accept the command within the timeout period. This may be caused by the device having entered an inconsistent state, or the timeout value for the command may need to be increased. (0xC0AA020D)

I have tried multiple times and have not been able to create a disc.

I encountered exactly the same problem. Can anybody shed some light on this?

Also, when I tried to get the disc (DVD-RW) formatted, Windows 7 "can not complete the format."

The above-mentioned dwonloadable recovery disc is no longer free. And new blank discs are out of reach for me now.

Eventually I found out why.

It's because I forgot to install the driver, supplied by the manufacturer, for the SATA II chispset which governs my DVD burner, hence letting Windows 7 have no choice but using its own standard driver.

After I installed the required driver, the Windows 7 System Repair Disc was successfully created.
