Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adaptor not working

Hi, According to Device manager the Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adaptor is not working. There's a yellow exclamation marl against it. Under Properies, Device status says This device cannot start. (Code 10). Removing and re-installing the device does not solve the problem. It just re-appears. Any help gratefully received. Thanks. Stoker.

Here's what worked for me.  It's in the windows knowledge base.  Sorry i didn't get the number.

In the start menu search bar type in REGEDIT to open the registry editor.  Navigate through the following:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\TCPIP6\PARAMETERS.  In the right pane, right click Disabled Componets and select edit.  Set the DWord value to 0.  Restart your computer and the teredo tunneling adapter will now start.

Iwas trying to join my exsisting homegroup and was getting a IPv6 not enabled message.  I had a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager and under devices and printers in the start menu my computer icon had a yellow exclamation mark also.  It all went away and I was able to join my homegroup without a problem.

Good luck to all.  Try this. Its easy and it works.

Hi Auggy.

Before your last reply I decided to Re-install the operating system from the Acer recovery suite.
This proceeded successfully.

Now the only items showing in Device Manger under Network Adaptors are Broadcom NetLink Ethernet
and the Intel WiFi Link. No reference to Teredo.

However I have used the Cmd window using
ipconfig /all
netsh interface teredo show state

I attach the read outs below for you to see.

To my inexpert eye it looks as though Teredo is there and ready to be used. Certainly there is no
mention of it being disabled, or unavailable.

What do you think?

Do you have an NVIDIA network adapter and, if so, can you check to see if the "NVIDIA ForceWare Network Access Manager" program is listed in "Uninstall a program".

I 've had my new computer up and running for 6 hours and am already having the same problem.  I have a Realtek adapter, not an NVIDIA.

According to device Manager I have:

"Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet" and "Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN"

Hope that's helpful.

Can you provide some more info on the computer?:

Start > type msinfo32 in the "Search programs and files" box and press "Enter" > File > Save > then save as an .nfo file

Then make the resulting .nfo file available (provide link) via Windows Live SkyDrive or similar site.

The following link has more info on using Windows Live SkyDrive:

You are running ZoneAlarm software and it may be creating an issue on your system such as the errors with infocard.exe and the KERNELBASE.dll and the Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adaptor not working.

Reference:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproperf/thread/02014707-5c65-44cd-9711-bcc3ebe1d5e5

http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7hardware/thread/e37bd387-05fc-478f-b2e0-886e8aafbdad

I would suggest to uninstall any ZoneAlarm software and see if the issue(s) resolve.

You could also consider, if you haven't already, updating any ZoneAlarm software to the latest version and see if that makes any difference.

I've tried closing down Zone Alarm so I've no firewall at all.
Then ran update driver on the Teredo - still reported same fault conditions.

I then uninstalled Teredo, and restarted the computer, expecting the system to pick it up again on restart, but it's not now appearing at all!

How can I get Teredo back?

Try a "clean boot":

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Follow Step 1 to clean boot and Step 7 to return to a normal startup.

If the problem resolves after a clean boot there is troubleshooting information in the article to find the cause.

However, I would suggest to uninstall ZoneAlarm completely to rule out a problem with ZoneAlarm.
