how do I reset windows 7 premium password.

I have a single user hp notebook.  my kid set pasword and then forgot it. i do not have a password reset disk. how can I reset password?  or should i just reinstall windows with recovery disk

a. Microsoft cannot help you retrieve passwords of files and features in Microsoft products that are lost or forgotten.
