BSOD 0x116 due to nvlddmkm.sys

Original Title: BSOD 0x116 UNSOLVE-ABLE? (Yes)

Hello!

I am here because through my own computer know how and expertise I cannot find the answer to this problem.

I have been plagued with a BSOD, specifically 0x116 for a year now, it goes on and off. It will just go away, then come back a month

or two later. Some fixes will fix it, for a month or two.

Now before the first reply is a, "Update drivers!", Or ," Do a memory test!", I have done the following.

1. Reinstalled Windows twice, once into Windows 8.1 then back to Windows 7. Neither fixed the problem.

2. Updated drivers, Done clean installs using Driver Sweep, and methods of removing files manually.

3. Done Memory test, Video Memory test, System File Check... All pass.

4. Sent GPU to manufactures, It passed.

5. Tested PSU, Wattage, All fine.

6. Cleaned thoroughly, and monitored temperatures.

7. Configured My BIOS various times.

None of the above have fixed this problem.

Some other weird things about the BSOD, While getting this BSODs I once got 0x50, I used a clean driver install fix and that stopped

the problem for about 2 months.

Most commonly I got a BSOD 0x117 instead if 0x116.

Also I had believed that Safe Mode was my Safe Haven but I have also had the Crash there.

Last but not least every since I've had these BSODs they have stopped being BSODs in a sense, at first they would display

the blue screen with the Error code and cause but after 9-10 months of off and on BSODs they now just black screen then

the computer restarts.

Now when it crashes it Restarts into windows perfectly, I can hear audio of windows start up theme but I have no video period,

I used to be able to do a hard reset and then it would start up fine but now they only way I can get into a normal start up is

if I uninstall my GPU drivers then restart, but after the restart I have low resolution from no drivers and windows installs

the GPU's driver regardless If I have driver installation option and windows update off.

For more info here are my specs to the best I know them.

This problem device identified in your System Information file is likely to be a significant factor causing your problems but there are other issues.

[Problem Devices]

Device PNP Device ID Error Code

SM Bus Controller              PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C22&SUBSYS_1C221849&REV_05\3&11583659&0&FB              The drivers for this device are not installed.

Comment: VEN_8086&DEV_1C22 = Intel 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family SMBus Controller

Install Intel chipset driver version 9.2.0.1021:
http://66.226.78.22/downloadsite/drivers/Intel/INF/INF_Win7-64_Win7_Vista64_Vista_XP64_XP(9.2.0.1021).zip

Look for and follow installation instructions in the download.

You have too little free disk space on your C partition!

Drive    C:
Description      Local Fixed Disk
Compressed     No
File System       NTFS
Size       111.69 GB (119,926,681,600 bytes)
Free Space        12.89 GB (13,837,234,176 bytes)

You need 30gb free disk space on C. You should keep the existing pagefile on C and create a further 32gb pagefile on D.

To investigate disk space usage download, install and run Treesize (freeware) as Administrator.

Place a shortcut to Treesize on your Desktop, right click the icon and select Run as Administrator to open Treesize. You need to run as Administrator to see all files.

Information on Treesize

When you open Treesize select Scan from the Menu and you will see a list of drives. Click on C and it will generate a list of Folders.

Post the names and the sizes of the 6 largest folders and the total at the top of the list.

The Event Viewer report below is a persistent error that needs fixing:

Description:
The Peer Name Resolution Protocol cloud did not start because the creation of the default identity failed with error code: 0x80630801.

Solution:

Researched the problem and found the solution. A file was corrupted and deleting it got the PNRP service running.  The file was recreated correctly when the PNRP service started up.  Here's the file for future reference:
"C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking\idstore.sst"

Your copy of Windows 7 appears to be seeking activation. I suggest you run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostics Tool in normal mode and copy and paste the results in a reply for further analysis:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

Run the Tool and when it completes click the Copy button, open a text file like Word or Notepad and select Edit, Paste. You can paste directly into a reply here. Open a reply, right click and select Paste.
