Windows Media Player no longer displays what im listening to on MSN

Ive always had my music linked with my MSN to show what im listening to but for some reason it no longer does it. Ive checked my MSN settings and the "show what im listening to" option is ticked but i cannot find any option on my media player that says the same thing. Anybody got any idea where this option is on or any other idea how its stopped? Thanks. Oh and im using windows 7, media player 7 (i think)

Answer

Hi FOXHOUND-MGS4,

For Information, Windows 7 has Windows Media Player 12 inbuilt with the operating system.

For resolution of the issue, I would suggest you to follow the below steps and check if they assist –

  1. Open Windows Media Player in the library mode press ALT. This will display a menu.
  2. Select Tools from the menu and then click on options. This will open a window for options.
  3. Now under the Plug-ins tab you may click on the category Background.
  4. This will list a Windows Live Messenger Music Plug-in in the background window. Put a check mark on this option and click Apply and OK.

Hope this helps. Let us know the results.
Thanks,

Do you see the  Windows Live Messenger Music Plug-in in the list of WMP plug-ins?

If you run WMP as administrator, by right-clicking its icon and selecting Run as administrator , does it work then?

Since when did you start having this problem? Do you have Windows Live Messenger installed, and which version?

If you are running the x64 edition of Windows 7, then are you perhaps using the 64-bit version of WMP? (the 32-bit version is the default)
