When i hit the Rip CD button I get the following error message.
"Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted"
When I then go into Rip settings > more options, Rip Music tab and try to add a location to 'Rip music to this location' it will not let me add a location. Currently the location for Rip Music is blank.
Troubleshooter says I have configuartion problems.
But how do I fix?
Mir the following worked for me.
The following fixed this for me:
1. Go to "Organize --> Manage Libraries --> Music"
2. Make sure that there is not a library listed that is unavailable (in my case, an Ipod that i had plugged in at another time then unplugged).
3. Highlight the missing library and click "Remove"
4. Repeat 1-3 for Videos, Pictures, and Recorded TV if necessary.
5. Try to rip again.

Hello Allan Elton,
a) Have you made any changes to your computer recently, such as new hardware or software installed, or updates applied?
b) Since when are you facing this issue?
Method 1: I would suggest you to perform SFC scan and check if it helps. To do so, please follow the steps below:
To determine whether the issue that you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows 7, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the system files by using the correct versions.
To resolve this issue, let’s use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe). To do this, follow these steps:
1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
The SFC /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.
For more information how to do SFC/ scan, please follow this link:

Method 2: If the issue persists, then I would suggest you uninstall and reinstall windows media player and windows media center from turn windows feature on or off and see if it works fine. Please follow the steps below:
To turn Windows features on or off, follow these steps:
1. Click the Start button, click Control Panel, click Programs, and then click Turn Windows features on or off. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. From the list of windows features, expand the Media Feature and uncheck the box next to windows media player and restart the computer.
Once you restart the computer, try to reinstall windows media player from the same steps given above and check the box next to Windows media player and restart the computer.

If that doesn't help, open Windows Explorer, right-click the Music library, select Properties , and click Restore Defaults . After that, make sure that a save location is set (as indicated by a checkmark).
iminhull, in WMP's library, click Organize , and select Manage libraries - Music . What locations are listed there? If there are any unavailable locations, remove them, and also make sure that a Default save location is set. Do the same for the other libraries (Videos, Pictures, Recorded TV).If that doesn't help, open Windows Explorer, right-click the Music library, select Properties , and click Restore Defaults . After that, make sure that a save location is set (as indicated by a checkmark).

First check if you can change the rip music location now.
If not, delete and restore the Music library, by following the instructions at http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/fix-error-library-ms-is-no-longer-working-windows-7 (your music files will be preserved). Does that help?
