Duplicate entries appear when media files are downloaded from an online store

no error codes

I just upgraded from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7. I have an external hard drive that I saved my pic's and music on, so the upgrade went well. However, I'm noticing whenever I reip or download from an online store, when I check the downloads later in the library, I'm ending up with anywhere from 3-5 downloads of the same songs and I cannot figure out if it's "normal" (I doubt) but I'd appreciate some help.

What exactly do you mean with 'downloading'? Do you mean that multiple copies of the same song show up in WMP's library?

If that's the case, click  Organize in the WMP library, and select Manage libraries -  Music . What folders are listed there?

Try resetting the library:  Tools -  Advanced - Restore media library (press Ctrl+M if you don't see the Tools menu). Does that help? Note that resetting the library will make you lose all current play counts, and possibly ratings too.
