Finally the problem of albumart has been resolved by ME
Take a backup before doing the prescribed steps because messing up with registry can lead to a DEAD computer.
(To take backup just click on COMPUTER under regedit.exe and then file->export->"desired filename" (might take a few minutes)
1) Go to the registry path : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences
2) then find the key with name "PlayerModeAlbumArtSelected" and set its "Value Data" as "0" (without qoutes)
3) then find the key with name "ShowAlbumArt" and set its "Value Data" as "1" (without qoutes)
Now the Wimdows Media Player 12 will display the original AlbumArt which you set in the song.
Enjoy!!
I found a solution for the windows-7 32-bit version wmp12 album art problem also (since the above one given by me holds good only for Windows-7 64-bi wmp12),
Here it is:
Take a backup before doing the prescribed steps because messing up with registry can lead to a DEAD computer.

1) Go to the registry path : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences
2) then Create a key with name "PlayerModeAlbumArtSelected" and set its "Value Data" as "0" (without qoutes) (for creating, new key,right-click anywhere inside the window and select "new->DWORD (32-bit) Value")
3) then find the key with name "ShowAlbumArt" and set its "Value Data" as "1" (without qoutes)
Now the Windows Media Player 12 will display the original AlbumArt which you had set in the song.
Enjoy!!
Hi zebulebu,
Thank you for visiting Microsoft Windows 7 forum. as this is a by-design, there would be nothing much we can do from our end to make the album art stretch.
As stated earlier by Debleena S Microsoft Support, Moderator. You may customize the album art manually by adding a picture of your choice or matching an album in your Player Library.
If you want to suggest change in the design here is the link you can refer to: Microsoft Connect - Product Feedback and Bug Reporting | Microsoft...

Hi
I too like or should I say "liked" WMP but want my artwork displayed in my native 500x500px which is what I save as folder.jpg in the album's folder. However during playing its displayed or reduced to 200x200 which I hate as I'm streeming to my 48inch HDTV. I'd like it bigger as it used to be before.
I too tried to follow your link above and make a suggestion but it leads nowhere.
Please explain in details once again, How can I have WMP dispay my artwork in its native size 500x500
Thank you

You almost supplied the answer: before
Before=WMP11, if you pasted the album art manually, say a 500*500 or replaced the folder.jpg by a 500*500, it was displayed as such.
This has been changed in WMP12, everything is displayed in 240 max and probably folder.jpg is downsized as well.

I would like to know why Microsoft operates this way.
Seriously, I cant imagine it is really microsoft's intention to ____ off every single one of their customers with answers like this. It was "by design" to mess with our ID tags without our consent? It was "by design" that artwork will always be displayed at 200 x 200 despite the fact that all modern computers have massive resolutions now? really? Someone at Microsoft really thought this was all a great idea? How many requests have you received from users to do stealth edits on our MP3 tags or force us to display album artwork at 200 x 200? I would really like to know.
It is irritating that I cant trust Microsoft to design their media players competently anymore. I guess like everyone else I will now be forced to use a 3rd party product. Its a shame, because if it were not for these irritating bugs (oh, excuse me, I forgot, they were "by design", so I guess there are no bugs) this would be an awesome media player. But every version that comes out seems to have fewer options than the one before. If I could permanently go back to WMP9 or 10, I would do it in a heartbeat. But Windows 7 wont let me.
I agree with the other user though...the one good thing is that someone at Microsoft has actually admitted all this stuff, if grudgingly. At least we are being told our opinions dont matter now, instead of being completely ignored; I suppose that is progress.
