Why does popup blocker in windows 7 not stop netflix popup ads?

Welcome to Microsoft Answers!

The Netflix Pop-up’s are not thrown by internet. They pop up due to the Windows Media Center Netflix Add-on.

You may remove/uninstall Netflix Add-on, follow these steps
To uninstall from Control Panel->Programs and Features->Vista Media Center vmcNetFlix Add-In.

Remove the following, if they exist:
C:\Program Files\Luttmann\vmcNetFlix
C:\ProgramData\vmcNetFlix_Data
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Luttmann\vmcNetFlix
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Luttmann\vmcNetFlix

You may also check in programs and features (Click Start>> programs and features) for any Netflix updates installed, if so remove it.

In my control panel, there is no vista media center netflix add-in. If I type that in the search box, nothing comes up. As a matter of fact, your post is the only place I have seen this subject come up. I would like to get rid of that annoying pop up if possible. Thanks, Maymee

I have the same problem because the path suggested here does not exist on my computer. I am running W7 and cannot find a reference to netflix antwhere.

These "pop-under" ads do not seem to be stopped by pop-up blockers. However, if you notice the URL for these ads, you will notice they are served by either OptMD or Tribal Fusion. Go to both www.optmd.com and www.exponential.com (the parent company of Tribal Fusion) and select Opt-Out of receiving pop-under ads from them. They will feed you some bull about how doing this will deprive you of your best web browsing experience, and that you will not be supporting the people providing you content, but I'm sure you'll feel sad for them. Don't forget you may need to stop your security software from erasing the cookies that contain your opt-out setting for these companies.

This NetFlix ad that pops under IE 9 is a very shity one and I hope someone will get us a way to get rid of this forever.

Right now nothings seems to work.
