Hi,
I am an owner of the Microsoft Comfort 5000 wireless keyboard. I found some articles about Microsoft wireless keyboards insufficient security. Communication with USB dongle is just with simple XOR encryption, which is quite easy to break.
I couldn't find any information about Comfort 5000 if there any other encryption is built in (AES).
People wirite that the guy behind the wall who had the same model of the wireless keyboard saw in his word editor a text typed by his neighbor.
Microsoft wireless keyboards operates in 2.4GHz radio with 10m range. In that case, radio waves listening can be performed even from > 100m using professional spy devices.
I see that the 2000 Protector model has AES encryption built in, but I love Comfort 5000 ergonomy and don't want to change it.
so questions...having Comfort 5000, is it possible that someone in my neighborhood can easily read my logins, passwords, etc.?
What is a probability that my text sudenly appears in someone editor who has the same keyboard model while typing? How safe is using Comofrt 5000?
Thanks.
