I can't shutdown from windows 7.

I can't shutdown from windows 7. When I push on the shutdown button the shutdown process starts and at last
the text "You are logging out" comes up on the screen but nothing more happens. What´s wrong?

Hello Gothenburger – Welcome to Microsoft Answers Community.

I agree with Lisa, having many programs running and pressing the
shutdown button from Start Menu will equal to slow shutdown,
since the system must kill the user-based processes.

I recommend to try what Lisa told you also open Command Prompt
and enter shutdown –s for a normal shutdown for a faster
enter shutdown –s –f –t 0.

I hope you find this information useful and if you need any further assistance,
please feel free to contact me and let me know.

I hope this information was helpful…

Have a nice day…

Best regards,
Fisnik

When you are shutting down, do you have programs running in the background and does it give you an indication of this?

Let’s try a clean boot and see if the problem occurs here.

If you mean you push on the power button on the front of the computer case, you may have to hold it in for about 5 seconds.

No, I meant that when I push the Shutdow button via Start on the screen, then the shutdown process starts and after a short while the text "You are logging out" comes up on the screen. The text is there and nothing more happens. At last I must push the shutdown button on the keyboard (5 seconds) to close the computer.

You have a program running that Windows can't stop befor it will shutdown. You must hold down the POWER switch until it shuts down. Try download Ccleaner and clean the registry or better yet download Advanced WindowsCare from www.iobit.com it will clean the registry check for simple virus and speed up your PC
