How do I get rid of register reviver virus?

I didn't download this software and now there are error boxes, won't let me uninstall, scans show I don't have a virus.  But this acts like a virus.  What is the best free tool to use to get rid of this?

Try this method and after that run malewarebyes in safe mode to be sure...

  • 1

Click the "Start" menu on the left side of the taskbar, and then select "Control Panel" from the list of options.

  • 2

Click "Uninstall a program" link under "Programs" on the bottom of the "Control Panel" window. This takes you to the "Uninstall or Change a Program" window. Double-click the "Programs and Features" icon if you are using the "Classic View."

  • 3

Scroll down the list of programs installed on your computer, and then click "Registry Reviver."

  • 4

Click the "Uninstall" button on top of the "Uninstall or change a program" window to start the uninstall wizard.

  • 5

Click "Uninstall" in the wizard's window to start the automatic uninstallation process, which shouldn't take more than five minutes.

  • 6

Restart your computer when prompted by clicking the "Restart" button in the pop-up window that appears.

  • 7

Click the "Start" menu after your computer restarts. Type "ReviverSoft" in the "Search programs and files" box under "All Programs," and then press "Enter" on your keyboard. Click the "ReviverSoft" folder. Press "Delete" on your keyboard, and click "Delete" in the pop-up window to confirm Registry Reviver's permanent removal...
