If not, let’s try running SFC scan and check.
System File Checker (SFC) checks that all Windows 7 system files are where they should be as they were by default and not corrupted, changed, or damaged.
1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.
2. Click Continue or supply Administrator credentials if prompted.
3. In the Command Prompt window type the following, and press Enter:
sfc /scannow
4. You should see the following on-screen messages:
Beginning the system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification % complete.
5. Once the scan has completed, test to see whether the issue that you are experiencing is resolved or not.
Hope this information is helpful.

The GREG.EXE seems to be the Acer registration tool ...
To add to it I get this Application Error message when first log into computer with administrator account.
'Exception EROException in module GREG.exe at 001CD90C.
A connection with the server could not be established.'
I have tried the sfc /scannow and I have received a log file I am now unable to open as it says access is denied.
There were errors that it said it was unable to fix.
Please can you let me know what to do with that log file.
Thanks
Windows Media Player quit working soon after I received my new Dell XPS8000 with Windows 7 64-bit.
When I recently installed Acronis True Image Home 2011, my first attempt at a backup returned an error that said something to the effect "cannot read cluster...". The Acronis website suggested I run CHKDSK. CHKDSK returned this message: Win replaced bad clusters in file 84512 of name \windows\winsxs\wow64_~4.164\wmp.dll. Of course, wmp.dll is the direct link library file for Windows Media Player. This action of Windows apparently fixed the problem because Windows Media Player resumed normal operation afterwards.
Apparently, there are many, many reasons why WMP might quit working.
I hope this information helps someone.
I have tried all this mumbo jumbo! Thay still don't have an answer. Pretty disgusting of them to qwaste our time trying their useless fixes...some of us have lives and jobs.
