Video freeze every 5 seconds

any video feed live, you tube, trailers, advertisement videos, all freeze every 5 seconds.  It takes 10 seconds for the video to start again, but freezes again in 5 seconds of video.   I have a Sony Vaio Windows 7 laptop that is about 6 months old and it has had this problem from the moment I took it out of the box.   I have tried online support before but never get an answer.  Recently updated to Windows 9 and it seemed to download fine.  But the video feed still freezes every 5 seconds.   Please help.

Answer

Hi NancyZeman,

Are the display drivers updated for the computer?

Method 1:

You may refer to the below provided fix it article and check if this helps resolve issues -

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/video_freezes_or_crashes/en-us

Method 2:

Also I would suggest you to change the hardware acceleration and check if this helps -
a.
Close Expression Media if it is open.
b. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
c. Click Appearance and Personalization, and then click Personalization.
d. Under Personalize appearance and sounds, click Display Settings.
e. Click Advanced Settings, click the Troubleshoot tab, and then click Change Settings.
f. Move the Hardware acceleration slider to Medium, and then click OK three times.
g. Close Personalize appearance and sounds.

By default the hardware acceleration will be high, so reduce the hardware acceleration to medium level and check.

Hope this helps.
