Cannot enable audio device

Hi,

I have a laptop Toshiba Tecra M11 with W7 64 pro.
After a windows update I do not have any more sound.
I cannot enable the audio device.

- I do not have a restore point to use
- I have tried to disable/enable the sound card
- I have tried to de-install and re-install the sound card
- I have tried both drivers, 1 from the Toshiba support website, one from the sound card manufacturer, REaltek. Both not working
- Windows device manager tells that the sound card is working properly even if there is a cross (white cross inside a red circle) telling 'No speakers or headphones are plugged in".
- After running the Troubleshooter, I am told the audio device is disable. I cannot enable it.

I would like some sound...

Any help ?

Thanks

Clement

Answer

Hi Clement70,

Sorry to know the issue still persists. Usually reinstalling the right drivers should fix this issue.

Check if the devices are listed in the control panel.

A.   Click start >> Control Panel >> Sound

B.   See if the devices are listed.

C.   If the devices are listed then select a device and click on properties.

D.   See which option is selected next to device usage.

E.    It should show as “Use this device (enable). If you do not see this option, try changing and check if you get sound on your computer.

If this does not help you may try to uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers once again. Download the latest drivers from Realtek and install it on your computer

Hope this helps.
