Windows 7 - Freezing Issues

Hello All,

For past few months we are experiencing an issue with different Windows 7 machines in our office.

The issue is not limited to a specific machine as it has been experienced across few HP Z600's, HP Z620's, HP Elite Desk 800 G1's

Issue:

Computer Freezes on either of the following

1. Log on after long idle time

2. Log off attempt

3. Shut Down attempt

4. In some cases Google Chrome / Internet Explorer / Firefox would not open

5. In some cases users cannot access Shared Network Drives

6. In some cases I would see multiple liveupdate (Symantec) instances in task manager

Resolution:

The only way to recover from this is to force the computer to Reboot. After which the computer would run fine for few days before showing the same behavior.

Symptoms:

After few attempts to see what is going on I was able to notice following.

Before computers are completely unusable / before we need to force them to reboot, Event Viewer shows a long chain of Event ID 10023

The protocol host process xxxxx did not respond and is being forcibly terminated {filter host process xxxxx}.

Can someone please help in resolving this issue.

Thanks.

Answer

Hey LibreMax Capital,

I would Highly prefer to make a system restore to the last point where the computer

in a good way, I would Also Highly Prefer to do a virus scan because Malwares can freeze your Computer

Also Did you have this problem before? or did it suddenly happened?

If the above didn't work then I think you need to reinstall the windows again.

Good Luck,,,,,
