Shift Key Delay/Lag

I have recently picked up a new laptop.

It is a HP Pavilion running Windows 7 home premium. One annoying problem I've found is that when I use the shift key, the effect will lag or delay for a second so I ENd UP WIth THe FIrst TWo LEtters CApitalized. It's only after I let up on the shift key that the delay happens.

Is there anything I can change on the computer so that the delay is gone.

How long have you been facing this issue?

Step 1: Check if the issue persists even with onscreen keyboard.

Check if the issue persists in safe mode (Step 2). If the issue does not persist in safe mode then, perform clean boot (Step 3) on your computer.

Step 2:

a. Restart the computer
b. Start tapping F8 key
c. You will get advanced boot option window
d. Select the option “Safe mode”

Step 3:

Starting your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. This kind of startup is known as a "Clean boot."

Step 4: Uninstall and reinstall keyboard drivers.

Here is how you do it:

a. Open device manager.
b. Locate keyboard, right-click on it and select Uninstall.
c. Restart the computer.

You may also download latest drivers from manufacturer’s website and install it.
