Hey ranger05,
What is the complete error message what you get during startup?
Just as suggested in your other post, find out what's generating this startup error message by putting the system in clean boot state. This operation starts the computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This can help you troubleshoot the problem.
Please refer this article for detailed information on how to do this.

Can you be more specific, what exactly, and when you see something?

It's not an error message but a file without an extesion trying to open. A dialogue box appears asking me to choose an app to open the file. It will open in notepad and display text regarding an interface list associated to a former home network.
