How can I keep my registry clean?

Hi all,

I always try to keep my computer running smoothly and efficiently.  I regularly defragment the hard drive, I clean up temporary files and run a comprehensive anti-virus / internet security suite.  The one thing that I would like more control over (without having to know all the "ins and outs" of it) is the registry.  I often install / uninstall software and would like to be able to easily tie up loose ends.

What is the best way to do this in Windows 7? Or does it take care of this kind of thing by itself?

Thanks!

Answer
Turtle - you have two good options. One is OneLiveSafetyScanner (google it) from Microsoft that includes a registry cleaner as well as virus/defrag/etc. You can use a second program called CCleaner (____ Cleaner) that is free from www.filehippo.com to keep the trash cleaned up and the registry clean. I've used both in tandem for a long time with no issues.

Good luck!
