Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x80070057

Here's the problem.

Open documents, single click picture, click email button in top ribbon. When clicking send receiving:

An unknown error has occurred.

Server: 'smtp.blue1000.com.au'

Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x80070057

Protocol: SMTP

Port: 25

Secure(SSL): No

However. When I compose a new message from the mail client window itself and then select attach file, select the photo and send it works fine no dramas.

What am I missing?

Cheers.

Hi BrisBlacksmith,

I had exactly the same problem as you decribe above and have solved it.

The solution: You MUST make a Window Live account and tell Win Live Mail to log in and stay logged in to that account.

Now you can mail attachments like pictures via the Send To - Mail Recipient in Windows 7.

I encountered this problem when I build serveral new pcs with Win7 64-bit and installed WLM2011.

I could send and recieve mails perfectly.  Only when I tried to use the Send To - Mail Recipient in Windows 7 I got the error:

Server: 'smtp.xxxxxxxx.xxx' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x80070057

Protocol: SMTP

Port: 25

Secure(SSL): No

I googled for hours. I guy suggested making a Windows Live account. Since I don't need and don't want a Windows Live account I tried that because ALL other solutions had failed.

The pictures that you want to sent automatically make use of SkyDrive. That is probably why you need a Win Live account.

Now I would like to know for the Microsoft Techies if there is a way to make this function work without a Win Live account / SkyDrive?

Googled it: Answer: There is no way to disable SkyBridge.  More info here:

“Unknown” errors are usually caused by interference from an antivirus program.
Either attach the document using the second method, or else get a more compatible antivirus program, such as:

I am running the latest paid version of AVG. Considering I just bought it, switching to another anti-virus is just a tad silly. Any suggestions on configuring AVG to correct this error?

The normal configuration adjustment necessary is to disable (preferably uninstall) any email scanning components. They are entirely redundant, the do NOT catch anything that the resident file system scanner would overlook, and they are highly prone to errors.

Your AVG antivirus was probably installed with its default install option, which installs an email scanning module. Just disabling its email scanning
is not a sufficient remedy. Uninstall AVG, reboot, test your mail, then reinstall AVG, but select 'custom' install, which then allows you to unselect installing its troublesome email scanning module.

If no improvement, replace AVG with the free Microsoft security program:

Try to disable your antivirus email scanner.  I'm running AVG (the free version) and when I disabled, just the email scanner part, it fix the problem immediately.
