TCP/IPv4 Properties Button Disabled... ???

Hi there,
I have been searching for a solution for over a week now and have found nothing to answer this.

I am trying to configure my Ethernet Adapter, but the "Properties" button for the "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" item is disabled (Greyed Out)... and I cannot figure out why.

The Ethernet Adapter is Enabled, and is actually connected to my University network.
I am able to use the internet through it as I am currently doing so.

I only have that One Adapter installed, nothing else appears in the "Network Connections" area of "Control Panel"

I am Running "Windows 7 Professional", and have tried to find differences between my PC, and 2 others PC's running the same OS yet have been unable to do so.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer

Hi

It might be that IPv6 is on and supported by the network.

Scan your computer and make sure that it is clean from viruses and malwares.

Then, try this.

WinSock and TCP/IP Refresh.

Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.

Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run a  Command Prompt as an Administrator.  Allow elevation.

Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt , and then press the Enter key.

Do the same process for refreshing the TCP/IP just replace the typed command with.

netsh interface ipv4 reset   press Enter

netsh interface ipv6 reset   press Enter

ipconfig /flushdns   press Enter

Restart your Computer.
