Why did my USB ports stop working suddenly?

Hi,

Do you remember making any changes to your computer?

Do you get any error message?

Step 1:  Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

Step 2:  Check to see if you have the latest device drivers installed for your computer. Log on to the computer manufacturer website and update the chipset drivers along with other device driver updates.

Step 3:  Make sure you also have the latest Windows Updates installed. Also, check for any optional updates which might have the related drivers. Refer the below mentioned link.

Step 4:  Remove and reinstall all USB controllers. To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps.

a.       Click Start and type “sysdm.cpl” (without quotes)in the Open box, and then click OK.

b.      Click the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager Button.

c.       Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.

d.      Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus Controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.

e.       Restart the computer. They automatically get reinstalled with a fresh restart of the computer.
