Second monitor disconnects after 2 minutes

Hi like the title describes, my 2nd monitor disconnects after a certain time.

I have an HP PC with a GT 5454 3 GB RAM graphic card and a Intel core i7. My main monitor connect with a HDMI cable and it work without problems, the 2nd is connected with a VGA cable and it's a Philips 190WV (old monitor). I thought it was because of the VGA cable but it isn't I just bought an new one and it happens over and over again ...

So what do you guys think is the problem? (Sorry for my bad English but I hope you'll understanding it)

Your graphics card has two ports both a vga and hdmi or dvi?

Or is your HP a laptop?

If a desktop and you connect only the vga monitor what then?
