Razer Megalodon periodic Mic muting WIndows 7 64 bit Ultimate

Hi I've been having weird periodic mic muting with my new razer megalodon.

I was having static issues with my logitech usb headset and so I decided to try something new. Having seen these I thought it was about time I had some decent quality headphones (and razer has never done me wrong) so I bought them. However... the microphone seems to periodically mute itself.

I noticed because my skype contacts would randomly stop hearing me as well as ventrilo stopped getting sound from the mic as well. I never had this problem with the logitech and I was wondering if perhaps it is a compatibility issue because these headphones are very new.

I've tried playing around with disabling other sound devices and making sure the microphone is default. However the ONLY thing that consistently works is unplugging it and replugging it in. I've tried all the front and back USB ports they all do the same.

On a final note this is a new computer so perhaps the logitech usb headphones would have a similar problem I cannot check this because I sold them.

Basic specs are as follows:

EVGA x58 sli le Motherboard
Intel  Core i7 920 CPU
6 gigs of Corsair xms ddr3 triple channel 1333mhz ram
3 HDD - 1 500 Gig Maxtor, 2 1TB Hitachi
EVGA Nvidia Geforce 250GTS Video Card
Ultra 750Watt Power supply

Thanks in advance!

Get an external USB hub. Make sure it's connected to an AC outlet (so it's getting more power than the motherboard gives it), and play away.
I found this somewhere else, and already had a hub, so I just connected it and tested it. Works perfectly on my machine.
