RAM upgrade : 2GB +4GB

Hello,

I have a sony vaio laptop with below config.
2GB DDR3 RAM,Intel core i3,Win 7 64bit.

Now I want to upgrade my RAM from 2 GB to 6 GB.IT has 2 slots with 1 slot of 2GB and other is empty.What would be good configuration for better performance and fast system.
1.2+2 ?
2.2+4?

Please suggest.Also do let me know is it depend on OS? like win 7 64 bit and 32 bit.What if I upgrade my OS to win 8 in future.
Any help is appreciable.Thanks in advance.


Check the Sony web site, or the documentation that came with your laptop, for recommended memory configuration options.  In many cases adding memory in matched pairs will enhance performance.  In other cases, it does not matter if the two memory modules are matched or not.
