My MS LifeChat LX-3000 not working when plugged in?

Ok so I know it's not my laptop's problem because all the USB ports are working, and I got a new laptop recently. The first one I used to try to use the LifeChat with too and it would work sometimes (rarely) and tonight was my first time plugging it into my new one and it said "installing..." and then again the same problem - it just ejects by itself, and now everytime I plug it in I get the dng-dng notification indicating my laptop has detected it but then the other dn-dn that means it's been disconnected. I think it has something to do with the USB wire moving, but I've done NOTHING to the wire for it to be loose. I take such good care of this mic, I practically put it to rest on a gilded cushion every night, but it STILL does this. I can't even access it on my computer to diagnose, it just won't detect it! what IS it's problem? btw I have two of these mics and they've BOTH done this to me. They've done this since the first time I used them. On my old laptop they were installed too properly, so it doesn't have anything to do with that.
