Mounting USB Dynamic Disk on Windows 7

Hello, I have a computer running windows 7, 32 bit.

I have an older hard-drive from a windows XP computer that I would like to recover some files from.

The older hard drive is a windows xp dynamic disk.

I connected the dynamic disk to my windows 7 computer via a USB cable.

Problem: Windows 7 will not let me mount the dynamic disk unless I convert it to basic disk? If I convert it to a basic disk I will lose all the data.

Question?  How can I mount the USB dynamic disk onto a windows 7 computer without losing the data on the dynamic disk? Do I need a special software program?
