Answer

Hello,

This is a known issue with the HP Solution Center and upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Basically the HP Solution Center doesn’t upgrade properly to Windows 7 because of some required libraries don’t get migrated during the upgrade. There is an update being created that will be released shortly that will be available on through Windows Update.

To get more information on the issue and the availability of the update, go to the KB article below. The KB article will be updated when the update package is available.

KB 976309 HP Multi-function Printers and HP Full Feature Software or HP Basic Drivers solutions may not work as expected after upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7

Thanks

Question? Have you tried the Vista drivers yet? If not go here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3390949&lang=en . Vista drivers work in Windows 7 but there is no guarantee that they will work. Right now HP is waiting until Windows 7 is officially released before they start working on Windows 7 drivers so you may have to wait.

Hope this helps

Hi,
According to HP documents HP Deskjet F4200 series should be supported by Win7 system (drivers are on Win7 DVD). Till the end of this month You should be able to download driver for Win7 from HP site. There is information about it from HP.

I just spent 5hours on the phone with HP support, all the way up to Manager of only US English speaking facility.  It was a 5 hour waste of time.  They have no fix for all in one printers yet, even after 5 months.

I was finally able to get printer to work, but scanner will not work.  I am using Open Office, because I did not want to pay $2-300 for Word, which was just a crappy short term product on my new HP computer.  Microsoft gave me Open Office, and HP does not support that, or its all in one printer J4680.  Art
