Answer

Here's what I did.  Maybe it's too late to help.

1) install the latest vista driver

2) restart

3) go to device manager

4) right-click on unknown device and click update driver

5) Select Let Me choose and select an imaging device

6)  Click have disk and browse to c:\windows\fjmini and select fi4120c.

7) let it install the unsigned driver

8)  You may have to restart after installing

9)  Try opening your scanning software and then select the WIA driver for your scanner

I've installed 6 4120c scanners on windows 7 systems now.  Works perfectly.

Hope this helps!

Andy

The Fujitsu fi-4120c is a discontinued scanner model, and will not be receiving any further updates - as in, no Windows 7 drivers.

Thanks, Fujitsu!

Bytor99,

I tried using your method but the device still would not start (Code 10). On your #6 mine shows fi4120C2-x64, the 2 is what is different than the others.

Is it possible for you to email me the drivers that you are using that work for you?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Andy

I know this is the wrong forum but  I too am trying to install this scanner on Win 7.  I tried your method but also get error 10c message.  I could not find a driver called Fi4120c but one which says Fi4120c2

Any chance you can also email me the driver which worked for you.  I would really appreciate it and hope you can help

Thanks

Paul

If this is true, I hope Fujitsu burns and I'll never purchase another Fujitsu product again.  They made millions of these products and discontinued or not many are still around because they are good scanners.

If anyone else is having issues, i have worked on this issue for quite a while now...most of this has been answered, but I felt that a little clarification was in order.

Yes this scanner is able to run in Windows 7 32bit edition as well as (in a way)Windows 7 64bit.

1. Yes you can get this scanner working in windows 7 using the vista drivers from their website.
HOWEVER -  this method ONLY works for a 32bit operating system, hence the complaints of error code 10, device unable to start.

2. I got this scanner working in Windows 7 64bit edition via Windows XP Mode.
No I didn't install any driver for the scanner on the base OS, and when I got into windows XP mode, BEFORE I clicked the USB menu and attached the scanner, i installed the latest Windows XP TWAIN package from Fujitsu. Restarted the VM, and then attached the scanner. It found the drivers and is happily scanning now. Fully functional.
