FSX Fatal Error. (I think it's a BEX (Branch Exception)) I've tried searching everywhere and I can't get it to work. I'm ready to give up!!!

FSX has a fatal error on startup. I've tried clean resintalling 3 times and the problem resurfaces without fail. The problem began today, but fter my reinstalls of FSX, i'm not sure a system restore will help.

PC:

Win 7 Professional

I've tried:
Complete reinstalls
Scannow
UIAutomationCore removal
FSX.CFG HIGHMEM Fix
Safe Boot
Setting Virtual Memory to 3072
Setting Virtual Memory to System Managed

I'm at my wits end and I would really love a solution!!!

THanks in advance!

Answer

Hi Fahimulla;

I have the "FSX 'Gold Edition'" which is FSX (disks one and 2) and acceleration.

I've tried the clean boot

Registry cleaner

I searched the internet for others like me and disabled the DEP. (This cause the BEX error to become an APPCRSH error).

None of the above worked.

The only thing that worked was to reinstall FSX in a directory that is:

NOT in Program files (x86)

NOT the same name as the corrupted (previous) version of FSX. (For example I had the first install as the defalut that FSX gives. I then changed it to the C:\FSX and I have not had the fatal error recur.

I am also using the 32 bit UIAutomationcore.dll in FSX main folder (where the .exe is located) and I'm not having CTDs on using the menu while the simulator is running..

While my problem may have been gotten around, for now, I hope that something is done to address this recurring issue.
