It's not something that's "broken", Microsoft built it this way on purpose. So I wouldn't expect to see a "fix" for it until Windows 8 -- because they don't change features in updates, only in new versions.

As you can see in this picture below, Microsoft made this change intentionally, so I don't believe you'll see a update to change it until the next version of Windows, because they don't change features during updates:
Microsoft needs to put this option back. It's absolutely ridiculous that it was removed. Do they honestly believe it's productive to constantly rearrange windows? Who the heck decided it was a good idea to do this? I have no words for the stupidity of this decision.
Is Microsoft working on a fix? This problem is a deal breaker for installing Windows 7 in our shop.
As of last Wednesday, Microsoft tech support (three seperate techs) were not even aware of this issue. What were they thinking? Also, what happened to the clean, concise, easily customizable classic start menu?
Send an email to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** and tell them you want it back.
Why have they removed this feature?
What is the likelihood of bringing it back?
Add to this, my questions;
... in tack the reply that doesn't answer a thing...The word here is intact. ;)
Is anyone at M$ working on the feature?
Our Windows team is currently investigating this issue and will be providing a response shortly. I will be sure to contact you as soon as I receive their reply.
