Magnifier lens size keeps getting smaller

I use the Windows 7 magnifier consistently and repeatedly.  My problem is that the lens size keeps getting smaller with successive uses, eventually winding up at minimum size.  Then I have to increase the lens size using the slide bars on Magnifier - Options, and the process begins all over.  Does anyone know how to "lock in" or retain a previous selection for this feature?

Hello,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft forums.

I understand that you are unable to retain the size of the magnifier on the computer.

I would like to know some information about the issue so that we could assist you further.

1. What is the model number of the computer?

I would suggest you to try the following steps:

Step 1: Try to clean boot the system:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.

Note: Refer "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.

Step 2 if the above steps does not resolve the issue try to create new user account.

Create a user account

Note: In order to copy files to the user profile you can follow the steps provided in the following Microsoft Article.

Fix a corrupted user profile

Additional information:

Make items on the screen appear bigger (Magnifier)

Hope this information is helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to help.

Thank you.

Thank you for your suggestions.  Regrettably neither path solved the issue.  The pattern of ever decreasing lens size recurred with regularity both under the clean boot mode as well as with a new and presumably clean user profile.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

You may try to Customize the Magnifier:

To customize the Magnifier, click or tap the Options button in Magnifier.

The slider allows you to set how much the view changes while zooming in or out. The minimum is 25% and the maximum is 400%.

When you are using
Lens view, the Options window allows you to move the slider to adjust the size of the Magnifier Lens.

When done making your settings, click on OK, so that they get applied

Please revert back incase of any further queries related to Windows.

Jayant

Thanks for your suggestion.  I am able to customize my Magnifier as you described.  My problem is that the software doesn't appear to remember my custom settings.  Specifically, the lens size keeps getting smaller and smaller with successive uses, and I periodically have to customize it again.  I would like it to remember my original settings each time I use the application.
