I don't understand what you mean by "Quiken 2009 is listed as
requiring a paid for upgrade from the manufacturer ," but I can tell
you that Quicken 2009 runs just fine under Windows 7, and no upgrade
is required.

Is Quicken 2001 compatible with Windows 7?I recently installed Quicken 2001 on my Win7 64-bit computer. Installed it from the original CD, then ran r3hb.exe to install Quicken's SP3 for this version of Quicken. Pointed it to my data files on my separate data drive & set up my printer. It seems to run fine so far. - Bill
Today is December 22, 2010. I just received a new computer with Windows 7 yesterday. After the initial startup of the computer I attempted to load Quicken 2001 from the original disk and was not successful. I even messed around with the compatability function and it still did not work. Intuit is convinced it will not work as they stated this in an email to me.
After reading this website today I came home from work and installed the startup disk into the player and attempted to load it again. This time the computer recognized the exe file and it loaded perfectly. The only difference from yesterday was that the computer was restarted several times. I was logged in as administrator both times.
I went to the file menu and restored from my backup file and it is running perfectly. I am glad I perserved and found this website that encouraged to keep trying.
Intuit is only interested in selling new software. Imagine that!
