RunDLL Error in WSClient.dll Missing entry: RefreshBannedAppsList Windows 10.

Occasionally there is a window. What is it?

Old title: Occasionally there is a window.

Hi Artem,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.
We understand how you feel about the situation. We're sorry for the trouble this has caused.

I suggest you to sign out from the current user account, restart the PC and login to the either administrator account or the Microsoft account to check, if that helps.

Also, I suggest you to install any pending updates on the PC to check, if that helps.  Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience.

I suggest you to follow these methods below and check, if it works:

Method 1:

I like to inform you that, WSClient.dll is a windows store licensing client file.

I suggest you to try re-registering WSClient.dll files, through command prompt and check if it helps.

Let's try to follow these below steps:

1) Press Windows key +x, and select Command Prompt (Admin).

2) Type the following command: regsvr32 /u WSClient.dll.
Hit Enter. This will Un-Register your file.

4) Type the following command: regsvr32 /i WSClient.dll.
Hit Enter. This will Re-Register your file.

6) Close the command prompt window.

7) Restart your computer and check if it helps.

If the issue still persists, follow method 2.

Method 2:

Try repairing the Windows store and check, if it helps:

1. Press Windows Key + X key or put the mouse in the lower left corner.
2. Open the Command Prompt (Run as Administrator)
3. Type in WSReset.exe and hit enter.

If the issue still persists, follow method 3.

Method 3:

SFC Scan:

I suggest you to perform a SFC Scan and check, if it helps.

System file check is a utility built into the Operating System that will check for system file corruption .The sfc /scannow command (System File Check) scans the integrity of all protected operating system files and replaces incorrect, corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with the correct versions where possible.

Please click on the below link and follow the procedure to run SFC Scan.

Note: Do not close the Command Prompt Window until the verification is 100% complete. The scan results will be shown after this process is finished.

Please feel free to contact us, if you face any issues with Windows.

Thank you.

Hi AntonyJose

I have just updated to Win 10 Build 11102.rs1 - release 160113-1800 as part of the Win 10 Pro Insider program.

As usual after these build upgrades I have neither access to Windows Store nor Windows Feedback.

Trying to run Windows Store´gives me the same issue as reported above. Googling the error msg I found this thread.

I have tried all of your 3 suggestions for remedy - to no avail.

The first method even gave me the following error

RegSvr32

The module "WSClient.dll" was loaded but the entry point DllUnregisterServer was not found. Make sure "WSClient.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again.

The next 2 methods gave no error and did not solve the issue that Windows Store is not available. The error message is ""Check your connection" even though I have a perfect internet connection up and running.

Windows Feedback acts similarly albeit with the error message "We can't get info" after some waiting.

Finally I have one more issue coming up after every build upgrade.

Using Outlook 2013 with a calendar shared from iCloud doesn't work smoothly.

Inevitably I have to open iCloud, make a  sign out followed by a sign in in order for Outlook to open my shared calendar from iCloud.

Quite annoying - can't this be fixed?

Kind regards

Ole Lau Holst

Same issues here, except I can get into windows store and feedback ap and do not have a calendar issue (prolly because the only stuff I sync or cloud store are IE favorites and a few files from one partition to validate my OneDrive allocation).

Two installations of win 10 pro 64 build  have exactly this issue exactly the same.

Both of them update defender; one has no update error but also finds no new preview build, despite one on fast track as of days ago; the other has a persistent and apparently unfixable microsoft account issue.

every preview update tends to break something related to windows update.

i wish windows update did not exist. instead, emails might announce downloadable exe msi or iso files....

For me this solution helped perfectly:

in the command prompt (admin)  to run the command WSRESET.

It took some minutes and the store showed up. whenever I restart my computer now, the error id away.

Hi judiwo,

Thanks for your suggestion, which is identical to Method 2 suggested by AntonyJose in original reply. In my case none of the 3 methods suggested by AntonyJose made a difference.

Hi

Just rediscovered that my issues with Windows Store and Windows Feedback not being available can be solved by explicitly setting valid DNS servers in the TCP/IP properties for the active Internet connection, e.g. the Google addresses as shown below.

HI John

You are probably right.

I have not had the "RunDLL Error in WSClient.dll Missing entry" problem since moving to build 14257 and I cannot see the task "refreshbannedaps" in the task scheduler.
