Windows 10 upgrade error-!Disk Controller: The current active partition is compressed.

Old title: Windows 10 upgrade error

Currently attempting upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 on a 64 bit system.

Compatibility assistant indicates the machine is compatible, but then states the following as the reason the install fails:

!Disk Controller: The current active partition is compressed. 

What actions do I need to take? Not overly computer savvy, so steps would be helpful.

* Please try a lower page number.

* Please enter only numbers.

* Please try a lower page number.

* Please enter only numbers.

Click Start > Computer

Right click the system drive where Windows 7 is installed

Click the General tab then uncheck Compress the drive to save disk space

Click Apply then OK

Restart the computer then restart setup.

That all makes sense except that the box is not checked as the system sits. 

Any further ideas?

Did you try troubleshooting steps suggested by Andre Da Costa?

I am having this same problem with the Anniversary update. Yet my drive is also NOT Compressed and never has been.... Any further advice ??

apoorva make sure that the drive is active partition , in my case it was other drive with the system reserved and not the drive C.

Hi,

For this issue please refer to the response of MVP Andre Da Costa and check fi the issue can be fixed.

Click Start > Computer

Right click the system drive where Windows  is installed

Click the General tab then uncheck Compress the drive to save disk space

Click Apply then OK

Restart the computer then restart setup.
