Reset Protection Recovery Key

I have a lumia 640 lte and my phone along with my email has been locked. Now the phone asks for a recovery key number. Contacting microsoft has done no help and neither has trying to reset my password. Any suggestions?

 I understand the inconvenience that you are facing on Windows 10, we will certainly help you with this issue. 

A recovery key may be obtained from account.microsoft.com by removing your phone from account.microsoft.com/devices. You can find more information on the reset protection process here.

Go to account.microsoft.com/devices, sign in with the Microsoft Account used on the device at time of reset or recovery.
click Remove phone.
When you're certain that you have your recovery key saved, select the I've kept a copy of the recovery key check box, and then click Okay.
Use the recovery key during phone set up

Do give us some more specifics – or let us know if any of the above does not work. We can narrow down our answer if some other scenario is driving your question.

Hi,

I had the same issue.

I am very positive that I have the correct Microsoft account setup with my phone.

How come I do not see my device being listed under "Your devices" at account.microsoft.com page?

Please help.

To add, will this process apply with Nokia tablet as well?

I have the same issue. I have tried all of my saved recovery keys and none of them seem to work and my device doesn't show up in my devices list anymore. I am the only owner and am part of the windows insider program and since I have tried doing a reset it doesn't allow me to pass this spot. super frustrating, especially knowing that I saved all of my recovery keys.

i locked my phone up long time ago putting wrong pass word in an old email acct so it locked my phone RM1073 model i bought this phone at cricket wireless in north gate i havent used it sence i would like to start useing my phone again its turned off of course because i got mad at u guys for doing this to me i understand were your coming from i wont forget my pass words

i need the reset protection recovery key to enter into my phone so i can turn off reset protection on my phone

I have the same issue. No devices show under my Microsoft account and cannot get a live person on the phone at Microsoft. Stuck at the recovery key screen.

I called customer support and they tried to get to back to B2X support. I explained to them that b2x couldnt help since it was not a hardware issue. The person helping put me on hold to ask his supervisor if there was any way to help me, same thing cant do anything aboit it. Im done with windows phones.
