I killed all Explorer processes (by running "taskkill /f /im explorer.exe" from a command prompt window launched as an administrator). After executing the "del /F /Q %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations\*" command
and relaunching explorer, the problem remained. Perhaps, I should have just closed all the windows, instead of killing explorer.exe from the command line. Anyway, the problem was resolved after a reboot. Thank you!!!
