Switch user at Picture Password Lock Screen Windows 10

How do you switch users from lock screen when using picture passwords in Win 10? Doesn't seem possible, I have clicked on every single onscreen object and can't. End up having to log in and switch users from start menu.

Is there at least a keyboard shortcut to use until this is addressed?

Switch it to the text password option while you are in the picture password screen THEN you get a list of users. It's so stupid. Windows 8 at least had a nice back button.

I agree with Stocklone that using the log in option pops up a screen where you can see the other user, but this REALLY seems like a bug. It's not like you're presented a "Switch User" option, you're just happening to be able to see the User list from the text password entry screen.  Also unlike once you're in on the desktop proper, the log in picture password clicks register very slowly.

I really hope they fix this soon!

Hi,

Thank you for the response and keeping the status updated.

The list of users that are setup on the computer are listed at the left hand side of the screen on the login screen. You can choose the user and log into the computer.

Hope this information is helpful.

Thank you.

Hi Ruth,

This is true, but as from Windows 10, the list is only visible when on text password login.

When on picture password login, only the last logged in user is show.

To switch user you have 2 solutions:

Login to the last user (I you know the picture password), then Windows Start button, then click on active user and choose 'switch user'

If you don't know the picture password or you don't want to log in, you need to switch to the text password, then all the PC users appear on the left side. You choose the user you want, then click the picture password button and then you can log in.

Please add all users of a PC to the left side on the lock screen of text password AND picture password.

Thx

Kevin

So, if I use a password to login, I can choose a different account by just clicking on it.

If I use a pin to login, I can choose a different account by just clicking on it.

But if I use a picture to login, then I have to click "sign-in options", then click one of the other sign-in options, then click somewhere else on the screen to get the on-screen keyboard out of the way, and then, finally, click on the account I want.

Sorry, that's just dumb.

The picture password is great for kids.  However, requiring them to make two unintuitive clicks to switch to another user is a VERY unfriendly user design.  Please change this in a patch.  Just display the list of users in the lower left even when a picture password is being displayed.

Deepak,

is Microsoft working on this issue or not? I can't make it up from the replies...

For now, as others on this forum I refrain from upgrading to Windows 10 because the first thing you have to do when starting it up is something irrational. On a non-official forum someone stated that this is 'just the way it is, so live with it'.

I just want to know whether I have to wait until a patch comes out, or wait until my kids are old enough to use a password.

Regards, IJsbrand

Type “gpedit.msc” then press “Enter“.
The Local Group Policy Editor appears. Expand the following:

Open “Hide Entry Points for Fast User Switching“.
Select “Enabled” to turn Fast User Switching off. Set it to “Disable” to turn it on.

Option 2 – Registry

Hold the Windows Key and press “R” to bring up the Run dialog box.
Type “regedit” then press “Enter“.
Expand the following:

Look for a value called “HideFastUserSwitching“. If it does not exist, right-click the “System” folder, select “New DWORD 32-bit value“, then type a name of “HideFastUserSwitching“. Press “Enter” to create the value.
Double-click “HideFastUserSwitching“. Change the “Value data” to “1” to disable Fast User Switching, set it to “0” to enable it.
