Hi Tridip,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. Your interest in Windows 10 is much appreciated.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

This issue could be either due to some issues with the power settings or corrupted system files on the computer.

Try the below methods and check if that helps:

Method 1: Run the Power Troubleshooter

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Type “Troubleshooting” in the search bar and press “Enter”.
  3. In the “Troubleshooting” window, click on “View All” on the left pane.
  4. Click on “Power”.
  5. Click on “Advanced” and then click on “Run as Administrator”.
  6. Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

Method 2:

It could be a compatibility issue with the new Fast Startup component.

Try the below steps and check:

  1. Open Control Panel / Power  Options.
  2. On the Left side menu, select  Choose what the power buttons do.
  3. Select Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  4. Scroll down to the Shutdown settings section.
  5. Remove the check mark from the Turn on Fast Startup option.
  6. Select the Save Changes Button.

Shut Down the computer, wait a couple of minutes and then use the Power Button to start the computer.

Method 3:

I would suggest you to restore default settings of power plan and check if it helps.

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Power Options icon.
  3. Click on Change advanced power settings.
  4. Select the option “Restore default settings for this plan”.

Keep us posted if you face any issues on windows in future. We will be glad to help you.

Thanks & Regards,
AS

None of these methods worked.  In fact, some of the options that you direct us to in Power Options do not even exist in Windows 10.  For example, in Power Options, there is no "Change advanced power settings."

hi

it looks your windows upgrade is not happened as it should. something didn't get updated cleanly.

to start with solving the issue as much as we can(cause fresh install is always a better solution to such kind of problems) have you tried 1. shutdown /s /f /t 0 at admin command prompt(win+X ).

2. right click on start button or win+X ->power options -> choose what power buttons do.

is showing shutdown for power button.

3.is there any scheduled task running/pending when Task Scheduler

4.Try disabling windows hibernation by running Powercfg.exe -h off
