How to fix high RAM usage of "...System32\ntoskrnl.exe"?

Hi,

From today on my Windows 10 Pro the "System" process is using high RAM.

On Task Manager's 'Processes' tab I Right Clicked on "System" process than selected "Open file location" that showed me the file called "ntoskrnl.exe" in 'C:\Windows\System32' folder.

But before today I haven't seen it using high RAM.
Now how can I fix it....Please help.

Hi Imran,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.

Method 1: Check for Updates

1. Press Windows key + R and type "control update".
2. Click Check for Updates.

3. If you have any pending updates, please install them.

Method 2: Try Clean boot

To disable all non-Microsoft services refer the article called Clean Boot.

Note: After troubleshooting, refer to this section "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting"

Note: Steps for Windows 8.1 are also applicable for Windows 10
