Windows 10 lost connection to Internet

Original title: Default gateway is not available/ One or more network protocals are missing on this computer

Ever since I downloaded Windows 10, my computer has been having episodes of losing connection to the internet. I am certain it is not the modem that is causing the problem and when I troubleshoot, it says "The default gateway is not available," followed by a "One or more network protocols are missing on this computer. I followed the steps that it provided and no dice. Please help

Refer these steps:

4.   Run the Internet Connection troubleshooter.

If the issue persists, try this:

Method 2: I suggest you to update network drivers and check if that helps.

1.   Press “Windows + X” and select Device manger.

2.   Select Network Adapter and expand the driver icon.

3.   Right click on the driver icon and click on Update.

4.   Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.

Hope this helps. Feel free to get back to us for further queries. We will be happy to assist you.

Thanks for the reply. I did update the network drive but it didn't help. My internet will go out, say there are missing protocols for the network, it will go away, say default gateway is not available and then just disappear, and then repeat about 5-10 minutes later.

Hi,

Thank you for the update.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: Check the following services are enabled.

1. Press Windows Key + R.

2. Type "services.msc" in the box. Check if these services are enabled:

- TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service

- Wireless lan

- DHCP

- DNS Client

- Function Discovery Resource Publication

- SSDP Discovery - UPnP Device Host

To start the service and set it to automatic, follow these steps:

1. Right-click each of the services listed above and click on Properties.

2. Click the General tab, and then, next to Startup type, select Automatic.

3. Click Apply, and then click Start.

Step 2: Disable Security Software temporarily.

Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

Thank you.

Hello friend, please try this Fix, it ended my Nightmare:

I  also had this problem with Windows 10 for a Month. It got Fixed completely once I updated my System to Build: 10.010586.123 or the latest (today) 10.0.10586.168. I have had 15 days of continuos WiFi Service, not once it has disconnected. So this will be your only Fix. Go to Settings>>>Update>>>Update Windows manually until you see that Build 10.0.10586.168 is installed. Problem Solved. Good luck..... Aaron
