HP LaserJet 3015 not offering scanning option?

Hi,

I'm using both Windows 10 and Windows 7 on two different partitions and when using either OS the HP LaserJet 3015 printer just recently (within the last week or two ) stopped offering the scanning option under the "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers"???

What is happening here, I just used this option within the last week and a half???

Where did this option go to and how do I get it back???

I would have to say it must have something to do with recent Windows updates for both Windows 7 and 10.

So, what can I do to get this fixed??? Thanks.

John

PS Plus my Windows 10 is acting real strange; the Start menu on Windows 10 will not open up when clicked on and it's actually running slow and I have this OS on a SSD??? Windows 7 on a standard HD is working fine.

Hi John,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per the description, I understand that scanning option is missing in control panel.

Run the Hardware Devices troubleshooter.

An automated troubleshooter is a tool that can find and automatically fix some problems with your computer. These troubleshooters aren't designed to fix every problem, but they're a useful tool to try because they can often save your time and effort.

a)       Press “Windows Logo” + “W” keys from the keyboard.

b)       Type “Troubleshooting” in the search bar and press “Enter”.

c)       In the “Troubleshooting” window, click on “View All” on the left pane.

d)       Click on “Hardware and Devices"

e)        Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

Try the steps.

1.       Press CTRL+Shift+ESC to open Task Manager.

2.       Click File > Run New Task

3.       Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”

4.       Type CMD and hit Enter key

5.       Type or copy/paste the following commands at the CMD prompt:

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

sfc /scannow

I've done all this and the option to scan from the computer still hasn't been put back?

This is on 3 PCs, Windows 7 & 10.

So, I don't know what is happening here since I was able to scan from my PC about 3 weeks ago.

Found the problem to be a faulty USB cable, with that removed everything is working great!!!
