My touchpad suddenly started working

I'm not sure what happened, but this morning I brushed away a dust particle on my HP Pavilion laptop and the cursor arrow moved.

The touchpad hasn't worked in a month, since the last time I took it back to the store to get it fixed.  And it would only work briefly between fixes before that.  A couple months ago, I'd stopped using the touchpad and began using a mouse exclusively.

At the same time the touchpad started working this morning, my computer was acting kind of slow, as if Microsoft was in there somewhere applying a fix.  Now it's working at normal speed again.

(For the record, the "two-finger scroll" function still doesn't work, but everything else does.)

I don't know what happened, but if it was a fix from Microsoft, consider this a notification that the fix worked.

Nuts!  I posted too soon.  I closed the lid on my computer to turn it off while I ran some errands, and when I returned home again, the touchpad was no longer working at all.

Look in the device manager and see if touch device under "Human Interface Devices" is working normally. If there is any error (!). disable and enable the device. You probably has internal hardware issue.

Eliyas,

The touchpad isn't in the "Human Interface Devices" list.  It's in the "Mice and other pointing devices" list. It says it's working properly.

Thanks anyway.

It seems to be a problem hundreds (maybe thousands) of people have.  I just thought they may have fixed it in the software somewhere.  But, apparently it's still a wide-spread problem.  Just do a good search for "two finger scrolling not working" or "touchpad not working."
