Chronic USB 3.0 port problems

Hi,

I have two USB 3.0 ports on my PC. For no apparent reason, all of a sudden, I will get the disconnect sound and sure enough when I check device manager, I get the same -- it shows the yellow triangle with exclamation point icon for the particular USB controller, Texas Instruments USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0096 (Microsoft) and says when checking that detected problem and shut down.

The seemingly effective action is for me to click on check for new hardware a few times and then reboot.

What is problem? What can be done to keep it from recurring?
