Photos App on Windows 10

Hello LisaBroderick,

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I want to apologize if you encountered this issue. I understand you have a problem with photo app not working. What is your current Windows version and edition? Press Start then search Settings, select System then About.


Kindly make a backup of your Photos first.

Open Microsoft Store then Click 3 dots
Select Download and Updates >
Update Microsoft Photos or click Get Updates

**Repair Photo App

Go to Settings and selecting "Apps and Features". Find "Photos" in the Apps & features list and select it. The "Advanced options" button should appear - click it. You will see the "Repair" button. If it doesn't work, Kindly click the Reset. Note: Apps data will be delete. Make a backup of your photos first.

**Uninstall Photo App

Press Windows key + X
Click and Run Windows PowerShell as Administrator
Copy paste the command below then press Enter

get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

Proceed to reinstall Photo App

**Go to Microsoft Store then Download again Photo App

or copy paste the command below then press Enter

Get-AppXPackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Restart your PC
