KB2882822, KB2872339, and KB28559537 all causing 0xc000005 application startup fails on system reboot

KB2872339, KB2859537 are security update for Windows 7 for x64-based systems, for which we keep getting many more........and
KB2882822 update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems, again we get many of these on Windows updates.

These 3 have now been hidden from my Wife's Laptop system as they are causing 0xc000005 startup errors on applications after reboot when the above updates are applied. The system is unusable and has to be restored to an earlier time or sometimes by startup repair.

Problem is that more of these updates are likely to be added by Windows Updates. Not sure which ones will be successful and which ones causing problem. Microsoft problem???

Answer

Don't forget the typo in your thread's subject (i.e., KB28559537 vs KB2859537)!

Note: KB2872339 (Sept-13) supersedes/replaces KB2859537 (Aug-13) but it's possible that neither can be/will be installed!

Note: KB2882822 is an Optional, non-security update (yes, even though it's offered as an Important update). Feel free to keep it hidden.

Moving on...

Please answer each of the following [admittedly tedious] diagnostic questions in a correspondingly-numbered list in your very next reply, preferably without quoting my post:

1a. When (approx. date) did you (your wife) purchase the computer?

1b. Did Win7 64-bit come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it, did you do a clean install of Win7, or did you upgrade the computer to Win7?

2. What is the full name of your installed anti-virus application or security suite and when (approx. date) does your current subscription expire? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender) are installed? What third-party firewall (if any)?

3. Has a(nother) Norton application or a McAfee application EVER been installed on the computer since you bought it?

4. Did a Norton free-trial or a McAfee free-trial [PICK ONE ONLY] come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (Doesn't matter if you never used or Activated it.)
