fatal error c0000034 applying update operation 282 of 116925

Title is the error message I see when I start up windows.

I'm probably responsible for that though. This is how i got there: My computer froze after successfully downloading and installing service pack 1, still running windows. SP1 was not applied however, to my knowledge. After rebooting the update at startup worked a couple of stages but got stuck at 0% at the (windows installation/reparation? with flowers) colored screen. I did a hardware reboot and know I get this error message when windows tries to redo or finish the update at startup/boot.

I can access the windows harddrive from Ubuntu on another drive (via BIOS). However I don't have a cd/dvd drive.

System: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Athlon II x4 2.9, 4 GB ram, 60 GB ssd.

Any ideas welcome!

edit: I also tried the automatic startup repair but it couldn't resolve.

SOLUTION:
this made windows bootable:

this made my windows installer functionable after multiple times of usage: sfc /scannow

Try this. It should work but if it doesn't let me know because I made a couple changes.

INSTRUCTIONS:

01. Reboot your computer while it's starting up.

02. When your computer starts up again, choose the option "Launch Setup Repair"

03. When the Startup repair starts, click cancel.

04. After you click cancel it will show a box. Click "Don't Send"

05. Click the link "View advanced options for recovery and support" (see pic from step 4)

06. In the new window click Command Prompt at the bottom.

07. In Command Prompt type this and press enter: %windir%\system32\notepad.exe

08. Notepad will open. In notepad go to File-->Open.

09. Change the type of files notepad views from .txt to All Files (see pic)

10. Now in Notepad, go to C:\Windows\winsxs\

11. Make a copy of pending.xml as a backup

12. Now open the original pending.xml (it will take 1-3 mins to open because the file is huge)

13. Turn off Word Wrap if it's on. Click Format->Word Wrap at the top and make sure it's not checked

14. Press CNTRL+F and search for the following exactly:
0000000000000000.cdf-ms

15. Delete the following text (the number after PendingRenames will be different):
<Checkpoint/>
<DeleteFile path="\SystemRoot\WinSxS\FileMaps\_0000000000000000.cdf-ms"/>
        <MoveFile source="\SystemRoot\WinSxS\Temp\PendingRenames\e56db1db48d4cb0199440000b01de419._0000000000000000.cdf-ms" destination="\SystemRoot\WinSxS\FileMaps\_0000000000000000.cdf-ms"/>

16. Save the file, close notepad and click the button to restart your compter

Once your computer starts up, the Service pack will install some more stuff and restart a few times and then everything should be working!

If you have any problems let me know.
